lyrics

The country moves on down
To another second series
For the righteous
And the wretched
And the women with diseases
Drink truly awful cocktails
Throwing smiles
Against the walls

"Sophistication"
Dear God, how they want it
And if you want to be cruel,
Then ask them to spell it…

The dumb lads and lasses
Of the thick working classes
Are left with the misery
Of the grim English joke.

In the dull public houses
They talk about the great mistake
Of Pig sweat and cigarettes
Scum-scratching lives

Meanwhile, back at home…

Julie cleans the ornaments
They’re gifts from her mother
It's all she has left to admire
The bastard husband's gone
And Anne-Louise is crying…..

The Passmore Sisters Manchester, UK

Formed in 1984 in Northern England, the band released four singles, one album & a brace of John Peel sessions before running out of milk & taking a nap for a few decades, only to be woken by the internet in 2018 bringing a compilation album of their 80's output and improbably, a brand new single in 2020.
Three members of the band also record as Fever Hut.
